The Broadway musical Fela!, performing at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, will hold an Actors Fund special performance on Monday, January 25 at 8pm.

The musical — which has a book by Bill T. Jones and Jim Lewis and additional lyrics by Lewis — is about Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s controversial life as artist, political activist, and revolutionary musician. It features his rousing music performed live onstage by the world renowned Antibalas and other members of the NYC Afrobeat community, under the direction of Aaron Johnson. The production also features musical arrangements and additional music by Johnson and Jordan McLean.

The production stars Sahr Ngaujah and Kevin Mambo (who alternate the title role), with principal cast members also including Lillias White (Funmilayo) and Saycon Sengbloh (Sandra). Jones directs and choreographs. Jay-Z, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are among the producers.
