Patti LuPone, Kelli O’Hara, Jon Secada, Hair, Follies and More Set for Kennedy Center’s 2010-2011 Season

The Kennedy Center has announced the details of its 2010-2011 season, which will include a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Follies (May 7-June 5), directed by Eric Schaeffer with choreography by Warren Carlyle. In addition, the new national tour of Hair, directed by Diane Paulus, will kick off at the Kennedy Center (October 26-November 21), with other tours at the venue including Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific (December 14-January 16), Wicked (June 15-August 21), and Next to Normal (June 28-July 9).

Additional theater productions will include the Chekhov International Theatre Festival’s productions of Three Sisters and Twelfth Night (October 19-23); ON THE FRINGE: Eye on Edinburgh (October 28-November 14), featuring Susurrus, Hard Hearted Hannah and Other Stories, Of All The People In All The World, and One Small Step; DRUID’s production of Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan, directed by Garry Hynes (February 8-12); Peter Brook’s Fragments (April 14-17); and Penumbra Theatre Company’s I Wish You Love (June 11-19). The ongoing production of Shear Madness will also continue its run.

Barbara Cook’s Spotlight cabaret series, curated by the legendary performer, will include Kelli O’Hara (October 15), Ashley Brown (November 19), Norm Lewis (December 10), Sutton Foster (January 14), Tammy Grimes (January 28), and Alexander Gemignani (April 1).

NSO Pops concerts will include Marvin Hamlisch conducting An Evening with Patti Lupone (October 28-30), Frank Loesser Centenary (November 26-27), Happy Holidays! (December 9-12), and an evening set to a Latin beat and featuring Jon Secada and Tito Puente, Jr. (May 12-14). Additional NSO Pops events will include Disney in Concert (February 3-15) and Pink Martini (April 13-16).

Theater-related productions for family audiences will include Rumplestiltskin (October 9-10), Locomotion (October 23-31), One Small Step (November 6-7), Harold and the Purple Crayon (November 13), Snow White, Rose Red (and Fred) (November 26-December 19), American Scrapbook: A Celebration of Verse (January 29-February 6), 46 Circus Acts in 45 Minutes (February 19-20), Doktor Kaboom! (April 2-10), and The Cat Who Went to Heaven (April 30-May 1).

Among the dance companies performing during the season are Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, Les Ballets Trockadero, The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, The Joffrey Ballet, , New York City Ballet, and Paul Taylor Dance Company.

Additional artists who will be participating in the Kennedy Center season include Germaine Acogny, Emanuel Ax, Terence Blanchard, Carla Cook, Carmen de Lavallade, Kurt Elling, Renée Fleming, Roberta Gambarini, Denyce Graves, Allan Harris, Lang Lang, Yo-Yo Ma, René Marie, Branford Marsalis, Kurt Masur, Dianne McIntyre, Midori, Bebe Miller, Marisol Montalvo, and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar.
