Jimmy Mavrikes and Lukas James Miller will star in Girlfriend, a musical by Todd Almond featuring the songs of Matthew Sweet. The production will run April 17-June 10 at Signature Theatre in Washington.

Matthew Gardiner directs the piece, which is set in 1993 in small-town Nebraska, where college-bound jock Mike (Miller) and self-assured but aimless Will (Mavrikes) find themselves drawn to each other. Almond pens the book, which features songs from Sweet's 1991 album Girlfriend.

The production will have musical direction by Britt Bonney, scenic design by Misha Kachman, lighting design by Colin K. Bills, costume design by Frank Labovitz, and sound design by Ryan Hickey.
