About This Show

The Lion in Winter is the brilliant and sweeping love and power struggle of the storied English King Henry II and his Queen, Eleanor of Acquitaine set in
the 12th century. Henry must choose a successor among his quarrelsome and plotting sons and marry his mistress to the heir in order to retain prized possessions in France. Eleanor, ever devious and crafty, prefers her favorite Richard to Henry’s favored John. Transpiring all in one day and night, these two titans navigate stratagems with inspired wit and emotion to best the other. Silver Spring Stage presents James Goldman’s play, directed by
Ed Bishop and produced by James Archie, Jr.
