Ernest Joselovitz’s Shakespeare, Moses, and Joe Papp is a fictional exploration of the battle between theatre producer Joseph Papp and Parks Commissioner Robert Moses over Shakespeare in Central Park. The play imagines what might have happened behind-the-scenes when one of the American theatre’s most compelling figures found himself mixed up with the Mayor, a cadre of high-powered lawyers, and one of the most powerful public officials in our nation’s history. Lou Jacob directs.
