Cathedral Choral Society presents Shakespeare Festival Concert and Renaissance Faire.

The only one of the city’s symphonic choruses to join in the District’s celebration of William Shakespeare, the Cathedral Choral Society is presenting a program of choral compositions inspired by Shakespeare’s work: Hector Berlioz, The Death of Ophelia; Ralph Vaughan Williams, Serenade to Music, Five Tudor Portraits; Felix Mendelssohn, Overture from A Midsummer Night’s Dream; William Walton, Film Music for Henry V

The event will also include a Renaissance Faire on the grounds of Washington National Cathedral. There will be strolling minstrels, delectable food and lovely wares for sale.

Soloists for the concert will be Laura Lewis, soprano; Stacey Rishoi, mezzo soprano and winner of the 1999 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions; Matthew Smith, tenor and James Weaver, bass. 2007 Helen Hayes Award winner for Outstanding Lead Actor, Andrew Long, will serve as narrator.
