Cathedral Choral Society presents Shakespeare Festival Concert and Renaissance Faire. Renaissance Faire 1 p.m. Concert 4 p.m. The only one of the city's symphonic choruses to join in the District's celebration of William Shakespeare, the Cathedral Choral Society is presenting a program of choral compositions inspired by Shakespeare's work: Hector Berlioz, The Death of Ophelia; Ralph Vaughan Williams, Serenade to Music, Five Tudor Portraits; Felix Mendelssohn, Overture from A Midsummer Night's Dream; William Walton, Film Music for Henry V The event will also include a Renaissance Faire on the grounds of Washington National Cathedral. There will be strolling minstrels, delectable food and lovely wares for sale. Soloists for the concert will be Laura Lewis, soprano; Stacey Rishoi, mezzo soprano and winner of the 1999 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions; Matthew Smith, tenor and James Weaver, bass. 2007 Helen Hayes Award winner for Outstanding Lead Actor, Andrew Long, will serve as narrator.
