About This Show

Iceland Dance Company has gained recognition as a world-class contemporary dance company. With a repertoire of works by many of Europe’s leading contemporary choreographers including Jirí Kylián, Richard Wherlock, Itzik Galili, Stijn Celis, Alan Lucien Øyen, and others, the company tours internationally, primarily throughout Europe, but also to North America and Asia.

The company’s mixed program includes Großstadtsafari by Norwegian choreographer Jo Strömgren, reflecting upon the accumulation of tension in crowded places. Lack of private space is the drawback of urban lifestyles–some implode while others explode. The Swan, choreographed by Lára Stefánsdóttir from Iceland is beautiful and erotic duet, playing with references to classical pieces such as Swan Lake and other well-known stories with a blend of respect and humor. Choreographed by Frank Fannar Pedersen, Til shows a woman who has loved and lost, stuck on the border of fantasy and reality. Hiding behind fading memories that haunt her, she shows us how she ends up alone, how she lost, how she loved, and how it began.
