Gloria! A Baroque Italian Christmas

About This Show

Ring in the holidays with one of Washington, DC’s most celebrated seasonal traditions. This season, Folger Consort presents seven performances of Gloria: A Baroque Italian Christmas. These concerts feature a Baroque orchestra, vocal soloists, and a women’s chorus for festive music by Antonio Vivaldi, Arcangelo Corelli, Alessandro Scarlatti, and other masters from the 18th century.

Hear period instrument performances of such masterpieces and holiday favorites as Corelli’s stirring Christmas Concerto and Vivaldi’s beloved Gloria in D, RV 589, performed with women’s voices just as it would have been heard at its premiere in Venice in 1715.
