About This Show

Oscar-nominee Lee Hall’s cult hit Cooking With Elvis is set in a small working-class town far north of London. When an Elvis impersonator is disabled in a car accident, his sexually restless wife and cooking-obsessed daughter are forced to cope. But the arrival of a handsome young baker throws their insular lives into turmoil, and soon even the family turtle Stanley is aroused. Dad’s hallucinatory Elvis dreams, mom’s insatiable randiness, and daughter Jill’s culinary and sexual awakening reach a crescendo of theatrical merriment in this ironic commentary on small lives in the grip of big longings.

Presented by the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in The Kennedy Center’s Film Theater.
