Part of Theater J’s fourth Incubator Series, Brownie Points is a vivid and utterly candid look at race relations between young mothers who take their children on a Girl Scouts overnight. It focuses on a range of high achieving, highly insecure, well-intentioned, or just plain old aggressive women, both black and white, negotiating relationships with their daughters and between themselves. Pitting the vestiges of Southern racism against the pabulum of New Age motherhood, Brownie Points is a study of women who mean well but miss the mark entirely.
