About This Show

Virginia Stage Company continues its 2004/2005 season with Dael Orlandersmith’s Yellowman, staged by veteran director Ron OJ Parson. In the play, Alma, a dark-skinned African-American woman, and her childhood Eugene, a light-skinned African-American man, find that as their friendship evolves into love, the different shades of their skin raise obstacles that become insurmountable. A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, Yellowman dramatically demonstrates how sins of the past become the legacy of the future from the harsh realities of internal racism.

There is an additional Sunday, Oct. 24 performance at 2pm.
