Theatre of Death

About the Show

Theatre of Death is an unusual evening of theatre based in the tradition of Teatro Breve, also known as “Brief Theatre.” Seven short plays – all dealing with death and some dating back to the 15th Century – are presented with the intent of causing a sensation in the audience. Besides experiencing seven centuries of theatre in one night, audience members may find that death has remained a topic of endless fascination, sometimes viewed as comical, sad, or frightening. With Halloween upon us, Mark-Brian Sonna Productions aims to amuse, thrill, and provide a chill or two.

For information on each of the seven shorts, please visit Theatre of Death.

In addition to the regular schedule, there is an 8:00 PM performance on Monday, October 30th.

Press Quotes:

“The company of six who performed throughout the evening were uniformly exceptional. James Casarez, Jr. has a commanding voice and quite descriptive facial expressions… Maria Robles is quite versatile — she can play drama or comedy equally well….Jared Culpepper is a master of foreign accents… Nancy Lamb was a force in action…so powerful it probably registered new values on The Richter Scale. Michael Johnson was a delight in drag….Kelley Vest has mastered the art of the witty aside and employed it to great effect. ….Mr. Sonna’s direction of Theatre of Death was also remarkable….This review cannot possibly recreate what a truly unparalled entertainment Theatre of Death is. You owe it to yourself to experience the searing intensity of this evening in person.” — Joseph Melnicoff, Broadwayworld.com

“Death Be Very Proud. Theatre of Death makes the end short and sensational. Looking for a great date night this fall? Sick of the same old dinner and a movie?… Look no further than the Theatre of Death, seven short plays about murder, death and dying…” — Andrea Grimes, Dallas Observer

“Best Bet: ‘Theatre of Death’ packs chills and heat” — Arnold Wayne Jones, Dallas Voice
