About the Show

Making a new life in the New World… an old story brings a fresh look
at the past. A moving and humorous social commentary, Sylvia Regan’s
Morning Star is set in the Lower East Side during the early decades of the 20th century. The play centers around an entertaining and richly
drawn extended family of Russian Jewish immigrants who encounter
setbacks and successes as they struggle to make a good life in their new
country. The play interweaves actual historical events – the Triangle
Shirtwaist Fire of 1911, the Great War, and the rise of the Labor
Movement – into the daily lives of a family struggling to survive in the
rapidly changing world.

There is no show on Friday, March 18 or on Easter Sunday, March 27.
