In Edwin Sanchez’s Icarus, a young woman with a facial deformity weaves a world of dreams, hope and beauty for her ailing, wheelchair-bound brother to keep him alive, and ultimately for her own escape. Their world is forever changed when a masked stranger, escaping from his own past, threatens to unveil her dream world forcing her to confront her own desires and need to be loved. JV Mercanti directs.
“Icarus represents the best of theatre: it reminds us that we can still laugh, cry, and feel. If there’s any justice in this world, a producer is negotiating right now to move this show to an off-Broadway venue to give it the exposure it deserves.”
