About the Show

When an underdog political candidate unexpectedly wins a popular election in West Germany in 1969, he is not only confronted with skeptics, but also realizes that it is increasingly difficult to identify friends from foes in his half of divided Germany. Charismatic Willy Brandt knows that intrigue, duplicity, conniving, and spying are all clearly going on within his most intimate inner circle. But toward what end? For what cause? And most importantly, by whom? Is this how democracy works? Democracy is directed by René Moreno.
