Spoleto Festival USA features a broad range of artistic styles and forms, including classical ballet; modern and post-modern dance; opera; chamber, symphonic, and choral music; jazz; theater; and visual arts.

The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, May 22-27
London-based cabaret company 1927 presents an ingeniously dark and peculiar blend of fairytale and silent-movie homage where live performance effortlessly merges with pre-recorded film.

the break/s, May 29-June 2
Mark Bamhuti Joseph’s personal narrative dramatically realizes the living history of the hip-hop generation.

The Burial at Thebes, May 29-June 2
The Nottingham Theatre Company’s production uses Seamus Heaney’s translation of Antigone.

The Great War, June 4-8
Hotel Modern’s production transforms stalks of parsley, a garden hose, and other mundane objects into highly evocative elements to dramatize the horrors of World War I.

The Be(a)st of Taylor Mac, May 30-June 1
Sedition meets sequins in Mac’s unforgettable evening of cabaret, political tirade and stark-raving fabulousness.

Other events will include a production of the opera Amistad by Anthony Davis and Thulani Davis, Chen Shi-Zheng’s music theater piece Monkey: Journey to the West, and performances by Laurie Anderson, the Boston Ballet, Gerry Hemingway, Paula West, the Westminster Choir, and many others.
