About the Show
Step into the world of acting with this dynamic and supportive class designed for adults (ages 17+). Whether you’re just beginning your journey or looking to strengthen your foundation, this course will help you unlock new skills and confidence on stage. Through engaging warm-ups and introductory improv, students will build trust and creativity in a safe environment.
- We’ll explore techniques from legendary teachers Stella Adler, Constantine Stanislavski, and Lee Strasberg, applying their methods directly to scene study and monologue work.
- Discover the art of character development by learning how to create a backstory and fully embody a role.
- Classes will also cover essential acting tools such as “The Magic If,” observation, being vs. indicating, and both outside-in and inside-to-out approaches.
- You’ll even experience the actor as dramaturg—digging deep into text and performance choices.
Because students will be paired with a scene partner for the semester, attending every class is essential to ensure you both gain the full benefit of the work.
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes to stay physically available to play, move, and perform. By the end of the session, you’ll have stronger technique, deeper character work, and more confidence in your craft.
