Reuven Malter is the son of a respected Jewish scholar. Danny Saunders is the son of a Hasidic rabbi, a member of a sect almost as strange to Reuven as some Amazonian tribe. Both have grown up in 1940’s Williamsburg, Brooklyn, “five blocks and a world away” from each other. Their accidental meeting begins a friendship that becomes pivotal to their life decisions. This adaptation by Chaim Potok and Aaron Posner of Potok’s award-winning novel played to great acclaim and sold-out houses in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Seattle.
