About the Show

Diabolique tells the story of Ferdinand Ravinel, a failed lawyer turned traveling salesman, who encouraged by his mistress, drowns his wife in the bathtub of his Paris business flat. Expecting to collect the money from his wife’s life insurance policy and move with his mistress to the south of France, Ferdinand is surprised when things do not go according to plan. Only days after drowning his wife, Ferdinand becomes convinced that she has returned from the dead to take revenge.

Song and dance is used in Diabolique to represent Ferdinand Ravinel’s descent into madness. Celebrated Philadelphia jazz musician Heath Allen, best known for his jazz combo Post Hip, writes the music and lyrics. Alexander Burns, a graduate of Germantown Friends School and Northwestern University writes and directs the show. Jessica Redish is the choreographer and Dan Kazemi is the music director.
