Jitney

Jitney revolves around a jitney station run by Becker, an elderly gentleman who must confront two great upheavals during the twilight of his life. First, his son returns home, after 20 years in prison for murder, seeking redemption and forgiveness Becker is unable to deliver. Second, the city intends to demolish Becker¹s jitney station and much of the neighborhood as part of an urban renewal project. All of them feel a certain disillusioned bitterness and alienation about their lives, and they are convinced the city¹s plans for “urban renewal” will only leave an empty lot in place of their livelihood. Each must learn to come to terms with the sometimes harsh realities of their lives.
