About This Show

Xoregos Performing Company will present the premiere of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Porcelain and Pink, a truffle of a trifle from its 1922 publication by Charles Scribner’s Sons.
This stage premiere shows Fitzgerald at his delightful best with sly literary allusions and wry humor. This comedic bauble of a bubble takes place in a bathtub. Original songs are by
James Barry who has set Mr. Fitzgerald’s lyrics to music.

Published in tales of the Jazz Age, the play details a flapper’s hedonistic mischief. The ingenious tub and all costumes are by Carla Gant, a well-known designer of off and off off Broadway productions and Robert Eggers designed the colorful, portable sets and props. Shela Xoregos directs and choreographs.

Included in the one act program, Summer shorts & Other Literary Briefs, presented free to the public, is Anton Chekhov’s The Marriage Proposal, a hilarious farce for three. This 19th Century masterwork will use the amusing 1916 translation of Julius West.

Silence of the Land, the premiere of a short comedy by New York writer Adé Adémola concerns two park bench philosophers, who discuss the world’s problems. Xoregos has premiered three other plays by Mr. Adémola and his play, OLURONBI was produced by Africa Arts Theater.

Knitting the 70 minute program together are poems spoken and danced by the seven performers. Included are poems by e e cummings, Langston Hughes and the great Russian poet, Alexander Pushkin. Locations are various parks and libraries in Manhattan.
