About This Show

Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes perform with special guests Joe D’Urso & Stone Caravan.

In a business where success is defined as getting a second single; and longevity measured in nano-seconds; just surviving for thirty plus years is a rare accomplishment. But Johnny and the Jukes have not just survived…they have flourished. Twenty-seven albums; thousands of live performances around the globe; a legion of dedicated and enthusiastic fans; dozens of classic songs; a record-Hearts of Stone-that Billboard called one of the top 100 albums of the 70’s and 80’s.

Southside (a nickname picked up because of his bent toward the blues sounds of the Southside of Chicago) and his band, eventually called the Asbury Jukes, worked on their growing reputation as a dynamic live band through the late 60’s and early 70’s. Then, in 1975, they signed with CBS/Epic Records and released the critically acclaimed “I Dont Want To Go Home” — and a legend was begun. What followed was two decades of recording and touring and solidifying a place in rock ‘n roll history…a period of ups and downs, dozens of great songs, and storied live performances.

Joe D’Urso & Stone Caravan, an Americana/Jersey Shore/Roots Rock and Roll band, released their 10th CD, Cause… on SCR/Schoolhouse Records in March 2006. The 15 song “album” is divided into Side One and Side Two with topics ranging from friendship, war, marriage, oil, soul searching, politics and lost love. As in past offerings, D’Urso mixes his writing and music with full out rockers and quiet observations. Cause was recorded with more of a live, garage rock feel than previous offerings and is quite unique as it’s “narrated” by wise musings/introductions by the late Harry Chapin. Besides 13 new D’Urso originals, JD&SC take on John Stewart’s 1979 Top 5 hit “Gold”, Bob Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released” and Chapin’s “Taxi.” JD&SC will be supporting the new disc with live shows and Radio/TV appearances in the USA and Europe all throughout 2006.
