About This Show

Tony­-winning lyricist M​artin Charnin​ will come to WPPAC as part of the Creating Broadway series. In this lecture- style class, Charnin will share stories from his life in the theatre and give advice for rounding out songs in an actor’s repertoire for audition or performance. 6 to ­8 people will be selected from ticket buyers, by audition, to join Mr. Charnin on stage.

Charnin has been the director, lyricist, composer, librettist, producer or a combination for over 85 theatrical productions. He is best known for his work as the conceiver, director and lyricist of the Tony Award-winning musical Annie and its sequel, Annie Warbucks.​ During his extensive career, Charnin has received four Tony nominations, one Tony Award, seven Grammy Awards, three Emmy Awards, three Gold records, two Platinum records, six Drama Desk Awards and a Peabody Award for Broadcasting.
