A madcap English musical farce.
This is a charming homage to the 30’s and the old music hall style shows complete with outrageous plot twists and a delightful score. Me & My Girl tells the story of Bill Snibson, a Cockney from Lambeth, who unexpectedly inherits the title and fabulous wealth of the Earl of Hareford. But there’s a catch: the Earl’s will specifically states that any heir must be deemed a fit and proper person by his blue-blooded aunt, the Duchess who sets out to transform Bill into a gentleman. The will further requires the heir to marry an equally presentable wife, a description that clearly does not apply to Sally Smith, the Cockney girl Bill refuses to leave behind.
Musical numbers include “The Lambeth Walk,” “Leaning On a Lamppost,” and of course, “Me and My Girl.”
