Special premier performances: Sloan performs “Sweeping Statements,” which won her First Place in the Narrative Essay category of the Missouri Review’s National Audio Competition, Feb. 2008. “Sweeping Statements,” is Sloan’s personal account of teaching theatre, writing, and working in jails and alternative sentencing institutions with incarcerated teenagers. For this premier performance Sloan is backed up by Game Rebellion, an all Black all outta Brooklyn hip hop, punk band, and Frank London, trumpeter and member of the Klezmatics, with music composed by Taylor Rivelli, for Taylormade Sounds, LLC (tweaked by Judith).
Da Da Dance (Eun Jung Gonzales and Guillermo Ortega) premieres their new dance piece with audio from Crossing the BLVD. Another premiere dance choreographed by Elise Knudson for Teresa Kochis, “What’s Your Status,” includes text and vocals by Judith Sloan, and music composed and produced by Taylor Rivelli (and tweaked by Judith).
