Founded in 1994, The WorkShop Theater Company, then known as The 42nd Street Workshop, was created as an incubator company devoted to the development of new plays and as a place where professional actors, directors and writers could hone their craft.

While the company continues its ten-year emphasis on writers and new plays, The WorkShop is now designed to Showcase these plays, as well as the talented actors, directors, and technicians who make them come alive on stage. With the use of two brand-new theaters, The Jewel Box and The MainStage, we are now able to provide our members with the physical space to produce everything from sit-down readings to full-fledged productions, including musicals and multi-media productions.
