Scissor Sister Ana Matronic and Wigstock doyenne Lady Bunny tag team as hosts for 2 election-timed editions of Weimar New York as part of the 10 Year Anniversary of Joe’s Pub. First conceived and produced by independent curator Earl Dax in March 2006 as a sprawling late night cabaret at the Pub, the show struck a nerve as it sought to articulate uneasy parallels between Weimar-era Berlin and the contemporary United States. From Joe’s Pub and sold-out engagements during the first and second seasons of the Spiegeltent in New York, Weimar New York most recently traveled to the West Coast, first as part of the Live Art program at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) over Valentines’ Day 2008 and then as part of LA Art Weekend.
