Weimar New York

About the Show

On the heels of 2 sold-out shows at SF MoMA over Valentine’s Day, Weimar New York celebrates it’s 2-year anniversary at Tingel Tangel Club, the underground salon and dance party emceed by downtown impresario and Weimar New York producer Earl Dax. Described by Art Forum as “a chorus line of pouty boys in feathers and ripped fishnets who combine the spirits of the Cockettes and “The Night Porter,” The Pixie Harlots return from their West Coast sojourn to preside over Tingel Tangel’s mix of dancing, lounging and performance. Weimar New York regulars Taylor Mac and Julie Atlas Muz debut new work for the occasion, and pioneering queer activist turned opera singer Phil Raia premieres a new translation of “Lavender Song.” The evening also features performances by “Kleynkunst” star Rebecca Joy Fletcher and Francophile sensation Alain Dupré.

As always DJ Mondolucien spins an eclectic mix of lounge, obscure dance and international music, and English Kills returns to dazzle with Weimar-era visuals and light show. It’s a rollicking night of dancing and debauchery that recalls the dance halls of Weimar-era Berlin mixed with the raw energy of a New York warehouse party!
