About This Show

The show traces the lives of several families who lived in a dilapidated Brooklyn home through the decades. Using yellowed and mildewed photographs found during a renovation to trigger instructions to audience members who scan them with their phones, The Photo Album lets participants peek into the lives of a Japanese-American family relocated to Brooklyn from a detention camp during WWII, or a struggling pair of Coney Island performers, or a quintessential American family trying to live the American dream in the shadow of the Cold War’s nuclear nightmare, just to name a few. Almost as if they are actually sneaking into the characters’ homes, audience members must search through the theatre to find these characters and draw them out to tell their stories in intimate, one-on-one settings. The audience members are even drawn into the action.
