About this show

The renowned Alloy Orchestra, praised by Roger Ebert as "the best in the world at accompanying silent films," performs their original score to the silent, groundbreaking science-fiction classic The Lost World. Willis O'Brien was the pioneering effects genius who used remarkable stop-motion to create the dinosaurs--which he based on the work of Charles R. Knight--in this groundbreaking adventure film about explorers who discover a "lost world" where time and evolution have stood still. When the brontosaurus that they bring back with them to London gets loose, it wreaks havoc all over the city. This is the film that laid the groundwork for everything from King Kong to Jurassic Park. The world famous Alloy Orchestra is a three man musical ensemble that writes and performs live accompaniment to classic silent films. Working with an outrageous assemblage of peculiar objects, they thrash and grind soulful music from unlikely sources.
