The Ides of Mozart, a 250th Birthday Celebration

About the Show

The Metro Chamber Orchestra of New York presents its Ides of Mozart concert, inviting listeners to join in for a festive birthday celebration honoring the one and the only, Wolfgang Amadeus.

On March 4, 2006, at the Church for all Nations (57th Street & 9th Avenue), the Metro Chamber Orchestra will welcome a cast of all-star guest artists in a delightful array of performances featuring some of Mozart’s finest compositions. Works slated for this program include arias from Idomeno, Don Giovanni, and Die Zauberflöte, the Figaro and Abduction overtures, and movement selections from the Clarinet Quintet, Symphony No. 29 and Symphony No. 40. Maestro Phil Nuzzo joins rising-star dramatic sopranos Therese Panicali and Deborah Surdi in works from the Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and Idomeno. The performance will also mark the return of the sensational young tenor, Douglas McCormick, in aria renditions from Don Giovanni and Die Zauberflöte.
