This frolicsome Shaw comedy, set ‘in the future,’ was written in 1929. It’s the Royal Palace and the American Ambassador is on his way with big news about America colonizing Britain. The King’s Cabinet members, determined to do without a King, are demanding a show-down. So is the King’s volatile mistress. The King and Queen do their best to hold down the fort, while everything imaginable hits the fan. It’s non-stop laughs, the Shavian way.
