Teatro Lirico D’Europa’s Rigoletto
Rigoletto is one of the best known of Verdi’s operas, with the Duke’s “La donna è mobile” (Woman is fickle) the most famous of its arias. Many singers of significant stature have played the role of the Duke, including American tenor Jan Peerce, a role he performed and recorded several times. The opera contains a fairly powerful and tightly structured plot based on a play (Le roi s’amuse) by Victor Hugo, who also wrote Les Miserables. Rigoletto is an opera filled with curses, irony and revenge. Full orchestra, English super titles.
