About This Show

In a hilarious romp through 14 independent scenes, Shel Silverstein, the long-time cartoonist for Playboy Magazine, prolific songwriter, and beloved author of the celebrated tomes The Giving Tree, A Light in the Attic and Where the Sidewalk Ends, unleashes his devious wit on the adult world of Shel’s Shorts as he satirizes concepts of control and truth with signs, both literal and figurative, as a focal point. From plumbers interpreting their sexually confused dreams to wild, savage ducks attacking without cause; from signs that ban "skronking" (whatever that is) to ad men devising a symbol for, "Have a Peace Day," Silverstein’s one-acts create ludicrous worlds that manage to parallel the familiar absurdities of everyday life by asking, "Do we blindly follow the rules that have been imposed upon us or dare to risk destruction by breaking from the status quo?"
