Return to Africa (Vuelta a Africa)

LEMBA Y LOS CARAPINTADAS new music album “RETURN TO AFRICA” This project was conceived as a way of filling the need to recognise the African influences on Caribbean music and the culture of the Dominican Republic. This is the group’s first album, containing a journey through the musical rhythms that abound in the Caribbean and the Antilles, which are directly influenced by the slave migration and sojourn on Antillean lands. In the album the listener will find the fusion of a range of Caribbean rhythms like salsa, of Cuban origin; Soukous merengue, which exists in present-day mother Africa; merengue compa, which survives in Haiti; bachata, a danceable and romantic rhythm originating in the Dominican Republic; as well as Blues, a musical genre that is said to have been influenced by the slaves who passed through the Caribbean on their way to New Orleans. The album also contains touches of Brazilian music like batucada, and Cuban comparsa.

LEMBA Y LOS CARAPINTADAS nuevo album musical “VUELTA A ÁFRICA” Crear este proyecto musical vino a llenar la necesidad de reconocer la influencia de África en la música caribeña, y por ende en la cultura de la República Dominicana. Es el primer álbum del grupo, y en él hay un viaje a través de esos ritmos musicales que abundan en el Caribe y las Antillas, que vienen influidos directamente por la migración de los esclavos y su paso por tierras Antillanas. En el álbum pueden encontrarse la fusión de varios ritmos caribeños, como la salsa, de origen cubano; el merengue Soukous, existente hoy en día en la madre África; merengue compa, que sobrevive en Haití; la bachata, ritmo bailable y romántico originario de la República Dominicana; así como un Blues de cuyo género musical existe la teoría que corresponde a una influencia de los esclavos que pasaron por el caribe en su ruta hacia New Orleans. También existen en el álbum pinceladas de música brasileña, como la batucada, y de la comparsa Cubana.
