About the Show
Psalm/Salmo
is a synthesis of poetry, music, theater, and cinema created from the verses of Vasyl Makhno about the Russia-Ukraine war. Director and actor, Grygor Melskyi, founder of Mazeltov Jewish Theatre in Kyiv, intertwines poetry with music: from romance to rock, and from ballad to blues. The audience sees Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol, and Bucha, their sights coming alive in Grygor’s telling, where the civilians have lost the most from the war.
The play will have a video accompaniment and will be performed in Ukrainian.
Olena Jennings, Luba Gawur, and Jaroslaw Anders translated into English.
Roberto Mendoza Ayala translated into Spanish.
Music score by Viktoriya Lisina, Grygor Melskyi, and Lubomyr Lesonin.

The authors dedicate this performance to the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against Russian aggression.
