About This Show

In Franz Kafka’s allegorical short story, a visitor arrives at a penal colony to witness the torture and execution of a prisoner who has not received a trial and does not even understand that he has been charged with a crime. Philip Glass’ dark, chilling score underscores the unsparing brutality of Kafka’s vision. Kicking off Philip Glass’ 75th birthday season, this production will feature rising opera stars Jason Papowitz and Matt Boehler, and will be directed by veteran New York director Sam Helfrich. String Orchestra of Brooklyn artistic director Eli Spindel will conduct.
