About the Show
Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Gay (The Importance of Being Earnest - with a twist!)
Oscar Wilde’s Victorian comedy The Importance of Being Earnest has driven audiences to tears of laughter for well over a century with its wit and social commentary. In this production, playing at Producers’ Club Theaters on the first three Fridays and Saturdays in February at 5PM and 7PM, director Harrison Stengle finds a new, hidden angle. Wilde was an icon and martyr for Victorian gay life. In Wilde’s time, “earnest” was a code-word for gay. The Importance of Being Gay, drops the code and the result is a side-splitting romp through a classic comedy, featuring David Malinsky, Ryan Thomas, Allison Sonson, and Jo DiNozzi.
Fridays: February 6, 13, 20 - Showtimes 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM
