About This Show

Everything old becomes new again with fresh interpretations of treasured favorites. The Concerto Grosso is Handel’s masterful adaptation of an earlier work. An homage to Tchaikovsky, the Divertimento is refreshed in a new arrangement and will be performed by “one of the most distinctive violinists of his generation.” Winner of the 2015 Warner Music Prize, Hadelich “plays with dazzling technique, a gorgeous tone and penetrating, spontaneous musicality” (The New York Times). He will also perform Tchaikovsky’s rare gem, Valse-Scherzo. Inspired by bird songs, Respighi borrows from early harpsichord and lute music, evoking birdcalls in poetic interpretations of trills, flutters, and cackles.
