About This Show

One Man’s War is written and directed by Tony Award nominee Sammy Dallas Bayes. It is being presented by New Century Productions and Steffles Productions, LLC, in association with The Triad Theatre.

One Man’s War follows the story of a New York City gang member Doug Hulbert, who, in the 1960s, was given a choice between going to jail and going to the Marine Corps. He chooses the Corps and his life is changed forever. The play follows Doug from Boot Camp through his tour of duty in Vietnam. Through Doug’s experiences we are given a firsthand account of how the military prepares a young man mentally and physically to handle the brutalities of war. The audience is privy to the innermost thoughts, feelings, and actions of young men who are sent into war by their leaders and who return home to the scorn and abandonment of their fellow Americans.
