About This Show

Yoshiko Chuma, Artistic Director of The School of Hard Knocks, has been a creative force in postmodern performance; traveling and interacting with artists in relatively isolated parts of the world since the 1980s. Her current project POONARC: A Page Out Of Order: Not About Romanian Cinema explores, examines and reflects relationships between three areas of the world: Japan, the USA and Romania, and is the nearly final phase of her 10-year project A Page Out Of Order, which will culminate in 2010. Two of the biggest inspirations of this project are the recent Romanian film movement in New York and the artists’ train ride from Cluj to Bucharest in Transylvania.

POONARC features performances by Yoshiko Chuma, Ursula Eagly, Jake Margolin, and Steven Reker, plus performers from Japan and Romania, to be announced. The multiple screen concept was created by Yoshiko Chuma. The lighting and set were designed by Rie Ono and Nick Vaughan. Original song composed by Sizzle Ohtaka. Sound designed by Jacob Burckhardt and Soichiro Migita. Script by Theo Herghelegiu.
