About the Show

On December 26, 1811 – with a standing room-only audience of 600 trapped inside – the Richmond Theatre burned to the ground. Based on interviews conducted with survivors of the fire in an unpublished 19th century manuscript, acclaimed downtown theater artist Clay McLeod Chapman’s (The Pumpkin Pie Show) volume of smoke is a moving and surprisingly funny voyage into the heart of disaster. Isaac Butler directs.
