About This Show

Venerated by Bach, a model for Handel, Haydn and Domenico Scarlatti; perfecter of the Baroque concerto; innovator of daring instrumental combinations, bold dynamic extremes, startling harmonic and thematic contrasts, and father of the classical symphony; celebrated throughout Europe during his lifetime as virtuoso violinist, teacher, impresario and composer of a vast musical treasury, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, the towering Venetian master, still speaks across three centuries to our contemporary sensibilities.

This stellar evening presents encore performances of some of our acclaimed American and New York premieres from the last 14 seasons of Vivaldi’s Venice. The program includes Concerti for Violin, Concerto for Bassoon, Bach/Vivaldi transcriptions for harpsichord and highlights from Gloria, Juditha Triumphans, Tito Manlio, L’Olimpiade, and a seasonal tango. Don’t miss this celebratory concert of your Vivaldi favorites.
