The influence of Hip-Hop continues to be felt on New York’s theatre scene with the first annual Urban Theatre Arts Festival at Chashama.
In addition to the Tuesday through Sunday performances, the Festival also offers special Monday night Open Mic events hosted by poet/performer/gay activist and comedian, Regie Cabico. The Monday night Open Mic events get underway at 7 p.m. starting July 21 and continuing through August 11.
Also, Times Square gets a taste of lunchtime theatre with the Festival’s special noon performances, which kickoff Friday, July 18 and continue through August 15. Audience members are encouraged to bring their lunch to the hour-long performances.
