Tulips and Cadavers

Tulips and Cadavers is based on the last days of Rembrandt’s life and explores the fine line between fame and obscurity. At the height of fame and fortune, scandal and questionable morals plunge the brilliant artist Rembrandt, into ruin, bankruptcy and disgrace. Broken and ruined, this shining light of Holland’s golden age can do little more than drag himself back and forth in his Amsterdam slum going from canvas to cot, cot to canvas, as he paints yet another masterpiece and reminisces with his favorite model – the mysterious Flora – when he is not dropping-off to sleep and dreaming of presenting his work to large appreciative audiences. Are dreams simply surreal recollections and Freudian mixed-messages, or are they prophetic?
