About This Show

They went to Asia to go to war on the slimmest of pretexts; many of them thought the war would be over within weeks, but it dragged on and on. Hmmm…

Highlighting the play’s antiwar message, this Troilus and Cressida has a multi-racial group of young artists staging a contemporary version of the play in a vacant lot in New York. This infrequently performed tragicomedy, which often eerily parallels contemporary events, is set in the Trojan War, in which Greek armies invade Asia Minor to fight over a single woman. Seven years into what was supposed to be a quick engagement, we see the tragic effects of war on willing and unwilling participants on both sides of the conflict.
