About This Show

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page,” wrote Saint Augustine of Hippo. Travels, Tours and One-Night Stands is a dance theater work — conceived by Kim Ima and Onni Johnson, directed & choreographed by Kim Ima — inspired by the experience of travel: the first taste of a new food, the way a hot wind blows and the sounds of a new city. It ventures into imagined and fantastic places, where the world created is not terra firma and our imaginations and memories take root. The piece is a collage of interwoven text, music, choreography and structured improvisation. Choreographed scenarios with improvised dance elements interweave with conversations and reflections about various aspects of travel, like getting lost, trying new food and speaking the language.
