About This Show

Theater for the New City presents THREE BY GRACE, a dramatization of three short stories by one of America’s beloved contemporary writers, Grace Paley. Margo Lee Sherman will perform in all of the evenings solo theater pieces, which will include;
A Conversation With My Father, a wry dispute between father and daughter about life and art.
The Immigrant Story, a tale of the effects of an old-world Jewish family tragedy on their secular American son.
Goodbye and Good Luck, perhaps Paley’s most famous story, which brings to life the Yiddish theater of Second Avenue through the surprising love affair between a ticket seller and a star.
The characters in these passionate and witty stories are unforgettable. They are Eastern European Jewish immigrants and their American-born children. They struggle to assimilate but can’t deny their past.
