About the Show

The Godlight Theatre Company presents the world’s first stage adaptation of Graham Greene’s 1949 novel, The Third Man. In collaboration with the estate of Graham Greene, Godlight’s resident playwright James Brunt has created a poignant and suspenseful play out of Greene’s tale of fraud and murder in post-war Vienna.

Rollo Martins’ usual line is writing cheap paperback Westerns under the name of Buck Dexter. When his old friend Harry Lime invites him to Vienna, he jumps at the chance for an adventure. With exactly five pounds in his pocket, he arrives only just in time to make Lime’s funeral. The victim of an apparently banal street accident, the late Mr. Lime, it seems, had been ‘the worst racketeer who ever made a dirty living in this city’. Martins, determined to clear his friend’s name, begins an investigation in this gritty post-war society.

There are additional 2 pm matinees on Saturday, May 17 and Saturday May 24th.
