In The Tempest, Prospero, the Duke of Naples, has been banished by the King of Naples to an enchanted island where for 12 years he has raised his daughter Miranda. When the King’s son Ferdinand washes ashore after a storm, Miranda enters a new world full of love and forgiveness. Inspired by the prose version of Shakespeare’s play that was written for children in the early 19th century by scholars Charles and Mary Lamb, this musical puts Shakespeare in terms that children can understand, appreciate and enjoy.
